SSD Price Will Drop in India

SSD prices are not expected to be reduced again this year. The first reasonable relief period is the second half of 2027 and prices could remain at 2025 levels even then.

SSD price trends

The most expensive component of an SSD is NAND flash, and the price of its contracts has increased rapidly. They surged by approximately 33-38% in Q4 2025, and further hiked by about 85-90% in Q1 2026,also projecting that they would climb another 70-75% in Q2
may become overall contract prices for NAND will increase by another 15-20% in Q4 2026. That's a much more modest increase than in the first half, but still prices are going up.

NAND is also finding it difficult to keep up with demand driven by AI, and its capacity will be expanding at a rate that is lower than the demand, resulting in a shortage of 4–5% this year.

When price will drop ?

NAND supplies will begin to exceed NAND demand in 2027, which will help to relieve pressure in the second half of 2027. Chinese suppliers will also be bringing more capacity online and most new fabs will ramp from 2027.

However, “increasing the ssd production” does not necessarily mean prices have come down, but rather that prices have begun to stabilize or decline slowly. It's not going to be a rapid return to 2025 prices. The previous NAND cycle had reversed significantly, but this one is a result of the AI demand and suppliers moving capacity to higher-margin products.

What to do

If you're needing an SSD in the near future, the “big drop” in the coming months will likely not be worth the wait. Some consumer drives may offer small discounts on Black Friday.
But purchasing only what is necessary aids, as PC manufacturers are reducing SSD sizes to keep costs down.
If you can wait, it is more likely to be mid-to-late 2027 to check again.
