What is the Galaxy S FE line

  • FE stands for Fan Edition – Samsung's approach to bringing a flagship level experience on a more affordable budget. The process is similar across each generation: The best of the Galaxy S lineups, chosen features are cut, and it is released a few months after the flagship at a lower starting price.
  • That's usually a previous-generation chip, a camera package that's been cut down, and a cut-back on materials that's one notch below the flagship, but overall it's still the same thing: good display, good experience, and long-term software support. The S26 FE sits between Samsung's Galaxy A series and the full Galaxy S26 lineup, both in terms of price and features.

Galaxy S26 FE display

  • For S26 FE, the display is not updating. The 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel will be expected, along with HDR support and a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, as used in the previous two generations of the FE.
  • Brightness could be improved, but there are no leaks thus far to indicate that.
  • Samsung could also be changing suppliers of OLED panels to China's CSOT for its budget and mid-range phones. Galaxy phone panels were previously only available from Samsung Display.
  • One report indicates that the South Korea tech giant has placed about 15 million displays with CSOT. Some are said to be headed to the Galaxy A57 while others are headed to the Galaxy S26 FE.
  • Compared with Samsung Display panels, CSOT panels are claimed to cost approximately 20% less – a fair comparison of any difference in quality. There is no indication of a decline so far but it will be interesting to see if any reviews are received that say so.
  • The move is commercially sensible: As memory chip prices are climbing across the board, Samsung could use a change of display supplier to limit the extent of any potential price hike on the S26 FE.

Galaxy S26 FE battery

  • S26 FE is expected to come with 5,100mAh of battery capacity. The 45W wired charging capability is expected to remain the same as the previous model. Since then, the 45W rate has been independently verified in a UL Solutions (Demko) certification listing that reveals a 2 x 2 45W charging matrix for two charging configurations and two different S26 FE model numbers: 15V @ 3A and 10V @ 4.5A, both 45W. That makes the base Galaxy S26 edger on wired charging speed, which is a decent value advantage at its price level.

Galaxy S26 FE features and software

  • According to a recent report, the Galaxy S26 FE is set to feature One UI 9, which is based on Android 17. The US variant was observed to be running One UI 9 on Samsung test servers, which means that it will come with this software out of the box, without a need to update it.
  • It is expected to receive seven years of software support, as Samsung has done with its other devices.
  • Galaxy AI will be a prominent feature, just like it was with the S24 FE. The S25 FE is equipped with Circle to search, and a complete Galaxy AI suite, with Photo Assist, Drawing Assist, Audio Eraser, and Note Assist.
  • The S26 series also introduces natural language understanding for Bixby and the ability to customize the default assistant to be either Gemini or Perplexity, which are likely to be passed along to the S26 FE.
  • Android 17 also introduces Gemini Intelligence, Gemini's new “agentic” version that can perform multi-step tasks in multiple apps. It remains to be seen if the complete functionality will be available on the S26 FE at launch.

Galaxy S26 FE hardware and specs

Galaxy S26 FE expected specs:

  • CPU: Exynos 2500 or Exynos 2600
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Battery: 5,100 mAh
  • Charging: 45 W wired, 15 W wireless
  • Storage: 128 / 256 GB

Galaxy S26 FE storage

Galaxy S26 FE expected storage capacity:

  • 128 GB
  • 256 GB
  • 512 GB
  • A 512 GB tier now looks probable based on the European pricing leak listing three configurations rather than two. The 128 GB base tier may still survive despite the broader industry trend away from it.

Galaxy S26 FE camera

Galaxy S26 FE rumored camera setup:

  • 50 MP main camera (Samsung ISOCELL S5KGN3, f/1.8)
  • 12 MP ultra-wide camera
  • 8 MP 3X telephoto camera (OmniVision OV08A1)
  • 12 MP front camera (Sony IMX825)

Galaxy S26 FE design

  • That Galaxy S26 FE is likely to adhere to the same design principles as the previous models: flat aluminum chassis, Gorilla Glass panels on the front and rear, and premium feel for budget phones that use plastic components.
  • The design has already made its first appearance in leaks. The phone has a new camera island with clustered camera lenses, which is more like the Galaxy S26 than earlier FE models, and a new model number SM-S741. The island is located towards the end of the back panel, close to the top edge and side.
  • The colors are now better defined thanks to a case leak from Android Headlines. The transparent material in the clear magnetic cases shows the two shades through – a deep purple which might be the Cobalt Violet (in existence with the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus) and a light green that likely will be named Aqua Green or Mint.
  • A longstanding FE difference to note: Galaxy S FE models have always been slightly bigger than the Galaxy S models when screen size is the same. The S26 FE is expected to come with a 6.7-inch display, but it'll be slightly larger than the Galaxy S26 Plus.
